South Korea Puts Military On Heightened State Due To North's Unusual Activity -- The TelegraphSouth Korea has put its military on a heightened state of alert after detecting unusual activity similar to that reported shortly before North Korea shelled Yeonpyeong island last November.
North Korean fighter jets have been moved to an advanced airbase close to the disputed maritime boundary in the Yellow Sea between the two nations, according to the Yonhap News Agency.
Pyongyang has also deployed surface-to-air missiles close to the island of Baengyeong, which is South Korean territory, while portable launch pads for anti-shipping missiles have also been reported in the same area.
